Mary Ruth Purcell, 66, of Hymera, Ind., went home to be with the Lord Sunday, Feb. 22, 2015, at Union Hospital-Terre Haute. Mary was born in Terre Haute on June 16, 1948, the daughter of the late John H. and Betty (Anderson) Gibbons. Mary was a homemaker, an ordained minister, and attended the Shelburn Church of God, where she was a youth pastor.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Henrietta Gibbons, and Sandra Cox; grandchild, Rachel Purcell; and great-grandson, Kitrick Dunn. Mrs. Purcell is survived her loving husband of 43 years, Gary G. Purcell of Hymera; sons, James (Brenda) Dunn of Shelburn, Gary A. Dunn of Frankfort, Jeremy G. (Leona) Purcell of Hymera, Brian K. Purcell of Hymera; brother, John Gibbons of St. Bernice; sisters, Sharon (Delbert) Dickey of Paragon and Patricia (Stan) Szostek; 14 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be Friday, Feb. 27, 2015, at the Shelburn Church of God, 426 West Mill Street, Shelburn, IN 47879, at 1:30 p.m., with Rev. Jerry Adams officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the time of service, at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Simple Cremations and Burials.
