Larry David Chesser, 69, of Hollister passed away Monday, February 23, 2015 at Putnam Community Medical Center in Palatka following a brief illness. He was born in Palatka and was a lifelone resident of Hollister.

He had worked as a truck driver for Chesser-Strickland Sand Company in Hollister. He later worked as an independent trucker. He had been an avid dirt track racecar driver. He enjoyed fishing. He was a loving son, father, grandfather, significant other and friend who never met a stranger and who had a heart of gold. He had recently rededicated his life to the Lord.

He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur Chesser.

Survivors include his mother, Lillian Chesser of Hollister; the love of his life and his first love, Trenda Barber of Palatka; a daughter, Teshia Chesser of Hollister; a grandson, Jeremy Grose of Hawthorne; a sister and brother-in-law, Gwen and John Arrington of Palatka; a niece and spouse Kay and Christian Dodd of Jacksonville; a nephew and spouse, Paul and Diane Arrington of Interlachen; and his best friend of 45 years, Paul Neilson of St. Augustine.

Calling hours will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 26, 2015 (TODAY) at Masters Funeral Home in Palatka. Funeral services will be at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, February 27, 2015 at First Baptist Church of Hollister. Burial will follow in Pinelawn Cemetery in Mannville.
