LeRoy Potter, 83, Harrisonville, Missouri died Friday, February 20, 2015. He was born January 4, 1932 in rural Westgate, IA, the eldest child born to the late Dale N. and Nora A. (Fox) Potter. LeRoy graduated from Strawberry Point High School, Strawberry Point, IA in 1950. He married the late Esther Stendel in 1951. He and Esther had five children, Pamela (Roger) Protsman, Antioch, CA; Rodney (Kathy), Ankeny, IA; Jeffrey, West Palm Beach, FL; Cheryl (James) Boren, Osage Beach, MO and still born Connie Mae. He married Elizabeth Morrison on August 8, 1980.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dale and Nora; first wife Esther; brothers William and Nolyn, foster brother Wendell Weeks, step-son William Morrison; daughters Connie Mae and Cheryl Boren. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth, brothers Daryl (Frances) and Delbert (Linda), Oelwein, IA; sisters Orion (Delbert) Zirtzman, Cedar Rapids, IA, Sheila (Ted) Butters, Oelwein, IA and step-daughters Diane Halter, N Liberty, IA and Christine (Russell) Smith of the home. Also surviving are 16 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
Memorial Services will be held Saturday, February 28, 2015 at Murphy Church, rural Westgate, IA; visitation at 10:00 am followed by the service at 11:00 am. Interment of the cremains will be at Greenwood Cemetery following the service.
