Salt Lake City, UT-Henry Nicholas Gerritsen passed away February 18, 2015 at the age of 91, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was born July 8, 1923 to Adrian and Wilhelmina Vilvart Gerritsen. Henry served honorably in the Merchant Marines during World War II in the South Pacific. He married his sweetheart Beth Lenore Yocom on October 27th 1945. They celebrated 68 years together and dedicated their lives to each other. Hank was a devoted husband and care giver to Beth until she passed away on April 17th, 2014. He was a humble, hard working, kind, caring, proud stubborn Dutchman. Never one to sit still, he loved his garden and heading to the hills to rock hound. Mostly self-taught, he never stopped trying to learn and grow.
Survived by children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, a brother and a sister. Henry worked for Gallagher Company and Kennecott Copper before his retirement.
A memorial service will be held on February 28th at 10:00 am Gardner Funeral Home, 1001 East 11th Ave and graveside services for our parents immediately following at Salt Lake City Cemetery. The family would like to invite friends and family to a celebration of Henry and Beth's life together at The Sharing Place, 1695 East 3300 South, Salt Lake City on March 1st from 2-5pm
