Lois Culp Acton of Panama City passed away on Thursday, February 26, 2015 in a local hospital. She was born in Billingsley, Alabama to Joseph & Roberta Culp. She had been a resident of Panama City since 1957, moving here from Key West, Florida. She was a retired teacher having taught school for over 42 years at Northside, St Andrew’s and Drummond Park Elementary Schools. She was a member of the St. Andrew United Methodist Church. She is survived by her husband of almost 60 years, Dr. Milton Earl Acton; 2 daughters, Milette Acton Oden of Gastonia, N.C.; Adelia Acton Tidwell (Keith) of Jacksonville, FL; 8 grandchildren; sister, Myra Culp Berg of Enterprise, AL; and a large number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 2 p.m. in the St. Andrew United Methodist Church with Rev. Amy Parson-Parkes and Rev. Dr. John Brannon officiating. Graveside services will be held on Monday at 1 p.m. at Mt. Nebo United Methodist Church Cemetery in Clanton, Alabama. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3-5 p.m. on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, the family request that contributions be made to the Children’s Home Society or St. Andrew United Methodist Church in memory of Lois Acton. Honorary pallbearers are Reece Tidwell, Alex Tidwell, Wesley Catrett, Drew Nelson, Danny Culp and Chad Gall.
