Roscoe - Julius Schneider, 87, Roscoe, died Tuesday, May 16, 2006, at the Rapid City Regional Hospital. His Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Saturday, May 20, 2006, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, Roscoe, with Father Rader, celebrant. Burial will follow at Morningside Cemetery, Roscoe. Organist will be Bernita Flannery and St. Thomas Church Choir will sing. Ushers will be Dennis Stockert and Sebastian Scherr. Lector will be Phyllis Guthmiller and Mass servers will be Serena Scherr and Quintin Sauer. Offertory gift bearers will be Justin and Tyler Schneider. There will be a Wake Service at Miller Funeral Home, Bowdle, 7 p.m. Friday with visitation beginning 2 p.m. Julius Philip Schneider, son of Margaret (Weber) and Robert Schneider, was born at Beebe on May 23, 1918. He was raised on their farm three miles E and one mile N of Beebe. He attended the Huntley TWSHP Rural School through 8th grade. Following his schooling, he helped on his parent's farm. In 1938 they moved to a farm five miles north and five miles west of Ipswich. Julius married Dorothy L. Dosch at Ipswich on June 29, 1955. They lived on the farm NW of Ipswich until 1963 when they moved to a farm 11 miles SW of Roscoe. Dorothy died July 22, 1994. Julius remained on the farm until fall 2002 when he moved to Senior Housing in Ipswich. In the fall of 2005 he moved to his son's farm near Roscoe. Some of Julius's favorite hobbies included hunting, fishing and gardening. He particularly cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren. Julius is survived by two sons, John J. (Cindy) Schneider of Roscoe and Joel A. (Kim) Schneider of Mansfield; one daughter, Debra Roesch of Aberdeen; one sister, Esther Schneider of the Beverly Healthcare of Ipswich; seven grandchildren; and one great-grand- daughter. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, three brothers (Robert, Henry, and Derwood), two sisters, Alma Schmall and Phyllis (in infancy), and a son-in-law, Doug Roesch. Honorary bearers will be Julius's nieces and nephews. Casketbearers will be Ron Strouckel, Allen Strouckel, Neil Scherr, Mike Roesch, Larry Stern, and Norbert Fuhrmann, all of Roscoe. Miller Funeral Home, Bowdle, is in charge of arrangements.
