Anna Ottinger was the mother of 14 children and she had three sets of twins among them.

1. Edgar Henry Ottinger, b. November 11, 1904, Pepin County, Wisconsin. Father unknown (per his death certificate). He died, July 25, 1960 and is buried in German Valley Cemetery, Rural Mondovi, Wisconsin. He lies near his maternal grandmother, Erica ("Ricca") Holstein Ottinger. He was a WWII vet. He never married.

2. and 3. were twins: Dallas Ottinger and Della Ottinger, both born June 29, 1910. Although Della was later informally adopted by Cecil Josiah Smith, Dallas was not. It is believed that both Anna's older son, Edgar Ottinger and Dallas Ottinger were raised by their grandmother, Ricca, until her death; one of the female relatives probably took them in until they were self-supporting. The Cecil Smith family lost touch with Edgar and Dallas. Dallas died on October 7, 1984. On his death certificate, his father is shown as Herman Berqwardt and mother as Anna Ottinger. No marriage certificate has been found for Anna and Herman. However, on Della's death certificate (1998) Cecil Josiah Smith is shown as her father (probably because she was raised in his household). But Cecil and Anna Ottinger did not marry until the Summer of 1911 a year after the twins' births. Possibly the real father of both twins was Herman Berqwardt. Herman later married to another and raised a family. Dallas married first Hattie Pearl Cowell and second Dorothy Alice Ruff. Della married Claude Duncan.

Cecil was married first to Alvina Arndt. She died in 1907. They had two boys. Following Cecil and Anna's marriage in 1911, they had these children:

4. and 5 were twins: Mildred Louise Smith (Milly) and Marian Ella Smith, both born on March 20, 1912. Mildred married Art Uttendorfer in 1937. Marian Ella married Clarence Young in 1933. They were farmers in Bear Creek, Wisconsin and raised a family.

6.Helen Agnes Smith, b. June 14, 1913. She married Joseph Robinson in 1933.

7. Margaret Linda Smith, b. 16 March 1915. She married first Irwin Fuss, in 1939. He died 22 May 1945. She married Gordon Hansen in 1947.

8. Lenora Anne Smith, b. 6 March 1916. Never married. She was known as "Aunt Jimmy" because the family wanted a boy. She became a Navy Nurse in WWII. She died of the complications of a brain cancer.

9. Raymond Alvin Smith, b. 22 July 1918. He married Frances Elenich in 1942. Known as "Ray" he was a cook in the Army in WWII.

10. Dorothy Edith Smith, b, June 12, 1920. She married Roger Des Bois.

11. and 12. were twins: Irene Minnie Smith and Irma (Erma)Marie Smith, both born December 1, 1921. Irene married first Harvey "Bud" Tonn in 1944. He was killed while serving the U.S. government in Italy in 1947. Irene married second, Charles Evans in 1958. Irma married Glen Ehlke.

12. Arden Elmer Smith, b. May 9, 1923 in Hawkins, Rusk County, Wisconsin. He married Lorna May Bunke.

13. Lila Yvetta Smith, b. August 12, 1925, Hermansville, Menominee County, Michigan. She married Fred Ewig.
