Professional Hockey Player. Larry Cahan hailed from Fort William, Ontario, which is where he learned the basics of hockey. He was signed by the Toronto Maple Leafs and joined the club in 1954. Cahan was claimed by the New York Rangers in 1956. Larry was later loaned to the Vancouver Canucks of the Western Hockey League (1959-61). The Rangers reclaimed Cahan and he stayed in the NHL for most of the next four seasons, whereupon he returned to Vancouver (1965-67). The Oakland Seals claimed Larry Cahan in the NHL expansion draft but he only stayed there for the club's initial season. An off-season trade sent him to the Los Angeles Kings (1968-71). Larry finished his professional career with the WHL's Seattle Totems (1971-72) and the WHA's Chicago Cougars (1972-73). He retired as a player on October 23, 1973. Cahan returned to Vancouver but remained active in hockey as a player and coach for the Vancouver Canuck Oldtimers. He also worked for fifteen years as an agent for Prudential Life Insurance of America. Larry Cahan died in Coquitlam, British Columbia.
