Frank F. Fata passed away on February 18, 2011, at age 96. He was a member of St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church and the Downtown Bible Class.

He was preceded in death by his wife Canita Fata and brother, Tony Fata.

He is survived by brother, Warren Fata; sister, Kate Gannarelli; and three generations of nieces and nephews.

Frank was born in Maybrook, New York in 1914 and grew up in Chicago. He served in the Army from 1941 through 1945 and earned the Bronze Star for his combat duty in Europe. While stationed at Camp Bowie in Brownwood, Texas, he met and married Canita Hermoine Nance. They were married 60 years before Canita's death in 2005.

In 1947 Frank began a distinguished career with Equitable Life Assurance Society spanning 53 years. Initially, he was a life insurance agent in Pampa, Texas. While in Pampa he was active in the Chamber of Commerce, was chosen Pampa's Outstanding Young Man in 1948, served as President of the Downtown Kiwanis Club, and helped organize the Top of Texas Life Underwriter's Association.

In 1957 Frank was transferred to Amarillo and while serving as Equitable's District Manager, he served as President of the Amarillo Association of Life Underwriters, was a member of the Amarillo Kiwanis Club, and was a Director of the Amarillo Little Theater and the Amarillo General Agents and Managers Association. In 1959 Frank completed a five year course to achieve the Chartered Life Underwriter designation.

In 1961 Frank was transferred to Lubbock as Agency Manager with responsibility for much of West Texas. He was active in the Lubbock Kiwanis Club, Lubbock Chamber of Commerce, Lubbock Life Underwriters Association, Lubbock General Agents and Managers Association, Lubbock Chapter of Chartered Life Underwriters and the Lubbock Trust and Estate Council. He remained the Equitable Agency Manager until 1965 when he returned to personal production before retiring in 2000. Thanks to the staff at the Carillon Senior Living Community where he has resided for the past 10 years.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, March 8, 2011, at St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church Chapel in Lubbock, Texas
