Charles W. Allen, 107 East Milwaukee street, who suffered a severe fall last Thursday afternoon at the rear of his home, when the rail on the stairway leading to the second story broke about fifteen feet from the ground, hurling him head first to the cement walk below, died Sunday afternoon at Mercy hospital at three o'clock. The injuries sustained were very painful, little hope having been entertained for his recovery.
The deceased has made Janesville his home nearly all his life, and was well-known, having resided for many years on North Chatham street. He was an old soldier. He leaves no relatives. Funeral will be Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock at the grave in Oak Hill cemetery, Rev. Williams of Methodist church officiating.
