Joseph Frederick Tye, 91 of Fort Wayne, passed away Saturday February 28, 2015 at Hamilton Place. He was born February 11, 1924 in Toronto, Ohio, He graduated from Indiana Tech with a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1949 and was employed for 42 years by Tokheim Corporation holding five patents for inventions he created. He proudly served his country in the Army during WWII. Another one of the greatest generation has left us. Joe enjoyed fishing, going to garage sales, cooking, antiquing and woodworking. He was a member of Praise Lutheran Church and used his woodworking skills to make the baptismal font that sits in the current sanctuary.

Joe is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Delores, children Joel (Mandy) of Ft Wayne, Connie (Roger) Buchtman of Ft Wayne, Nanette Dormans of Bryn Mawr, PA and Jan Tye of Fishers, IN, grandchildren Nicholas, Laura and Katy Dormans, Andrea (Booth) Halloran, Molly and Thomas Buchtman and Jonathan, Grace, Matthew and Hope Myers. He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

Visitation will be from 9-11am Wednesday March 4, 2015 with services following at Praise Lutheran Church, 1115 Dupont Road in Ft Wayne. Interment will be at Concordia Cemetery Gardens.

Joe's family would like to thank the staff of Hamilton Place for their kindness, love and compassionate care.
