OLIVER ASBURY, OCTOGENARIAN, DIES IN WOLFE

Oliver Tutt Asbury, born June 3, 1868 in Wolfe County died September 20
at the age of 88 years; one of the county's oldest citizens. He was
the oldest member (in years) of the Campton Baptist Church.

Since the death of his daughter, Mrs. Corda Perry, eight years ago, Mr.
Asbury had made his home with his granddaughter, Miss Maude Mae Perry
in Campton.

He is survived by one son, James Porter Perry, Dayton, O.; two
daughters; Mrs. Maude Smith, Campton; and Mrs. Bessie Young, St. Albans, W. VA;
Eleven grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday, September 23 at the Campton
Baptist Church at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. J. Edward Cunningham and Rev. Sewell
Woodward officiating. Burial was in the Evans Cemetery in charge of
Hearne Funeral Home.
