DERBY PIONEER DIES
William G. Austin, 74 years old, retired farmer of Derby, where he lived for 41 years, died of pernicious anemia at 11 o'clock Friday night at his residence. He is survived by three sons, one sister and two brothers. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the Derby Baptist church. Burial will be in Derby cemetery.

William along with his brother rode with William Quantrill during the Civil War. He surrendered May 23 1865 in Lexington Missouri. He settled in Derby, Kansas after the war. He attended the 1899 & 1918 Quantrill Rangers reunion.
