Mrs. Cowart was born on April 1, 1945 in Lincoln County, MS. She was the daughter of Horace Bradley Coker and Ethel Beatrice Coker.
She worked for numerous years for Bell South Telephone Company as a switchboard operator. She also worked for Sears and later retired from Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center where she worked for Public Relations. She was a very caring person and always welcomed others into her home and making sure they were taken care of. She was a member of Adams United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Cowart was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Oscar Allen Cowart; two brothers, Earl Coker and wife Helen and Ray Coker and wife Maurine; one brother-in-law, Sonny Lazerus.
Survivors include her two sons, Michael Cowart and wife Katy of Meadville, MS and Chris Wegmann and wife Jennifer of Picayune, MS; one daughter, Michelle C. Sones and husband Ed of Magnolia, MS; one brother, H.B. "Smokey" Coker and wife Frances of Summit, MS; one sister, Betty Lazerus of Summit and three grandchildren, Katelynn Cowart, Caleb Cowart and Taylor Brumfield.
Visitation will be Friday evening at Jones Family Funeral Services from 5 until 8 PM and continues there Saturday from 10 AM until services at 11:00. Burial will follow in the Adams Cemetery. Dr. David Millican will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Charles Coker, Jarrett Hall, Shelly Cowart, Paul Cowart, Harold Phillips, Ed Sones, Taylor Brumfield and Caleb Cowart.
