Maysville - Ninettie Fawns Risner, 87, of Berea, formerly of Plumville, passed away Tuesday October 28, 2014 at Baptist Health Richmond. She was the widow of Luther "Luke" Risner who passed away July 1, 2000. Mrs. Risner was born July 21, 1927 in Bath County to the late Joe and Peach Powell Fawns.

A graduate of Morehead State University, Mrs. Risner was a teacher and educator for 43 years. She began her career teaching in Montgomery County, then teaching in the Maysville School System before retiring from Ripley Elementary. She organized the Maysville Teacher Education Association as well as the Ripley Teacher Education Association. Throughout her career, she mentored many young teachers and touched the lives of thousands of students.

Survivors include a daughter of Plumville; a son of Berea; and one granddaughter of Louisville. In addition to her husband, Luke, she is preceded in death by 2 brothers, Dale Fawns and Tom Fawns and 3 sisters, Emma Lee Coyle, Mary Gilvin, and Lillian Blevins.

Services for Ninettie Fawns Risner will be held at 11 a.m. Friday October 31, 2014 at Brell & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Norman Wasson officiating. Burial will follow in the Hillcrest Garden of Memories. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Sonny Fawns, Philip Fawns, Jamey Tolle, Jerry Davis, Henry Dale Blevins, and Wesley West will serve as pall-bearers.
