After the death of her mother in Aberdeen, Annie brought her younger siblings to Canada on the SS LETITIA to join their father. Annie was 22 years of age, in charge of Tom (14), Joe (11 1/2), Flo (10), Alice (8), Jimmy (4 1/2) and Lucy (3).
She married Arthur Wellesley Elliott in Carleton Place on Jan 19, 1915.
Annie & her husband were passengers on the Lusitania when it was hit and sank by a German torpedo off the coast of Ireland. Her husband was one of the 1198 out of 1959 passengers who did not survive. Annie was 3 months pregnant at the time of the voyage. She returned to Lanark County to give birth and raise her daughter Helen Louise (Elliott) Wooding (1915 – 1988). Annie did not remarry.
