Katherine Leona Slusher, 99, lifetime resident of Council Grove, KS, passed away Monday, April 4, 2016, at Diversicare of Council Grove.
She was born February 25, 1917 in Council Grove, to John L. and Dolly M. (Robinson) Holscher.
Katherine married Harold Slusher on April 4, 1936 in Junction City. They made their home in the Morris County area, primarily Council Grove, where they raised their three children: Deanna, Steven and Donna.
She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and VFW Women’s Auxiliary, and a 4-H leader in Morris County. Katherine enjoyed helping her husband with livestock and fishing with her grandsons.
Katherine was preceded in death by her parents, husband Harold, infant daughter Margaret Mary, 3 brothers and 4 sisters.
She is survived by her children: Deanna Smith and husband Gordon, KS, Steven Slusher and wife Nancy, OK, and Donna Roush and husband Chuck, KS; four grandchildren: Amy Jo (Slusher) Greene, Scott Slusher, Andrew Roush, and Michael Roush; and nine great grandchildren. She is also survived by brothers: Floyd Holscher, KS, Clyde Holscher, KS and Leo Holscher, WA; and sister, Berneice Fowler, KS.
The family will host a visitation for friends from 1:00 to 2:00 at the Community Room of Zeiner Funeral Home,Thursday, April 7, 2016. A graveside service will follow at 2:30, at Greenwood Cemetery.
