Zarling, Ruth M.

Ruth Marie Elizabeth Zarling, age 98, a resident of the Northland Lodge, 2500 Garfield St., Two Rivers, entered into eternal rest Tuesday March 3, 2015, at the Aurora Medical Center of Two Rivers. Ruth was born January 28, 1917, in Mishicot, to the late Reverend Edward and Alice Jindra Zell and has been a longtime Mishicot resident. She married Reverend Waldemar Zarling June 29, 1941, at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mishicot. He preceded her in death November 14, 1984. Mrs. Zarling taught Elementary Education at the Jefferson Elementary School, in the town of Mishicot, and for the Twin Elder grade school in Two Creeks, and finished her teaching career at St. Matthew's Lutheran School in Benton Harbor, MI. She was a faithful member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she sang in the church choir, and was a longtime member of St. Peter's Ladies Bible Hour. Ruth enjoyed painting, reading, golfing, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Ruth is survived by five sons and four daughters-in-law, Pastor Thomas and Mary Zarling, of West Bend, WI; Pastor Philip and Edna Zarling, of Shawnee, KS; Frederic and Ruby Zarling, of Hoffman Estates, IL; John Zarling, of Khobar, Saudia Arabia; Pastor Mark and Colette Zarling, of New Ulm, MN; 14 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren; one sister and brother-in-law, Hazel and Oscar Barthels, of Mishicot; one sister-in-law, Marian Zell, of Two Rivers; nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was also preceded in death by an infant sister, Evelyn, and by a sister Alice "Chick" Zell, two brothers: Edward and William Zell, and by a sister-in-law, Jane Zell.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2015, at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mishicot, with the Reverend Robert Johannes officiating, with burial to follow in the Mishicot Public Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call after 1 p.m. on Saturday at the church, until the time of service at 3 p.m. There will be no Friday evening visitation. A memorial fund has been established in her name. The Lambert-Eckert Funeral Home of Mishicot is assisting with funeral arrangements.
