Funeral for Austin B. Summers, a Gresham resident since 1953, will be at II a.m. Thursday in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 3600 S.E. 182nd Ave., Gresham. Burial will be in Shelley, Idaho. Mr. Summers was born in Malvern, Iowa, and lived in Bozeman, Mont., and Salmon, Idaho, as a youth, graduating from high school in Salmon. He graduated from the University of Idaho, where he was a member of Alpha Zeta fraternity, in 1930, and taught agriculture in Idaho schools for six years, including four years at Firth and two years in Rexburg. In 1936 he moved to Sedro Woolley, Wash., and in 1951 he moved to Pendleton, Oregon. In 1943, Mr. Summers joined the U.S. Soil Conservation Service as a conservationist. He retired in 1970. He was a member of the Gresham Chamber of Commerce and of the Gresham First Ward L.D.S. Church. Surviving Mr. Summers are his wife [linked below], 2 sons, 3 sisters [names deleted] and 7 grandchildren.
