Charles Schmieder, 71, of 3121 Prairie St., Two Rivers, a retired longtime Two Rivers’ south side grocer, died unexpectedly Saturday afternoon while attending Mass at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Deja & Martin Funeral Chapels, Two Rivers, and at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, the Rev. Paul Schumacher officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
Mr. Schmieder was born Sept. 2, 1899, at Brillion, a son of the late Adam and Catherine Kratzinger Schmieder. From 1929 to 1957 he operated a grocery store on Madison Street at Two Rivers. He married the former Adala Hesser Nov. 4, 1924, at Brillion.
Besides his wife he leaves a daughter, Mrs. Gordon Blaha of Two Creeks; two sisters, Mrs. Lena Schowdier and Mrs. Theresa Melchoir of Appleton; two brothers, Sylvester of Sheboygan and Frank of Appleton, and seven grandchildren.
Friends may call from 7 o’clock to 8:30 o’clock this Monday evening at the funeral chapels where memorial services will be at 8 o’clock. The casket will remain closed.
