Albert Neil Abney, vice president of Sweeney Inc., died Saturday of cancer at his home. He was 45. Mr. Abney was born in New Orleans and was a lifelong resident of Slidell. He was a sergeant in the Slidell Police Reserve and was a volunteer in its Juvenile Department since 1979. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Slidell. Survivors include his wife, Elaine Abney; a daughter, Dawn Abney; a stepdaughter, Angelyn Griffing; a brother, Robert Abney Jr.; and a sister, Sandra Eastridge. A funeral will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Honaker Funeral Home in Slidell. Visitation will be held Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from noon until the time of the service. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Slidell.
