Christopher "Christof" Stelling was born Sep. 13, 1846 at Kennemar, by River Marne, Suderditmarchen, Holestine, Germany. He was the Son of Johann Heinrick Stelling and Anje Jurgens. At Tennewith, Marne Slideritmarcher, Germany on Sep 19, 1869, Christof married Margretha Catherine Vohs [Voss which means Fox in English]. At the time he was a six foot tall solider in Germany. They had five of their seven children in Germany before they came to America on May 4, 1884. After arriving in the USA they first went to Grand Island, Nebraska where he worked for the railroad. Margretha had cousins in Nebraska. March 1, 1894, Christof and Margretha moved by covered wagon pulled by a team of oxen to a farm six miles east of Hooper, Nebraska. They said it was the year of the 'Hot Winds'. November 1903, Christof and Margretha moved to Phipps settling near Lexroot. Per family records this was about seven miles north of Hayward. After moving the Wisconsin, several of their children married and left home. Their children were: Carl Johann Henrick Stelling who married Emma Louisa Mosel; Emma Marie Stelling who married James Wilhelm Carlson; Therese Matilda Stelling who married Richard Decker; Henry Christopher Stelling who died Jul 5, 1892 in Basset, Rock Co., Nebraska; Sophia Louisa Stelling who married Frederick J. Rang; Alvina Margaretha Bertha Stelling who married Herman Wilhelm Manske; and John Albert Stelling who married Della Adele Sollman.

Christoffer Stelling, who passed away on September 25, 1932, was born near Marne, Holstein, Germany, on September 12, 1846. On September 19, 1869, he was married to Margareta Kathrina Voss, also of Marne, Germany. In May of the year 1884 they came to America and settled near Grand Island, Nebraska, and in 1887 homesteaded in Rock County, Nebraska. From here they moved to Hooper, Nebraska in 1894 where they lived for 8 years. In the fall of the year 1903, Mr. Stelling and his family moved to Phipps, WI, where he has resided ever since.
Mrs. Stelling preceded him in death on June 18, 1919, and since that time, his daughter, Therese, has taken care of him.
Mr. Stelling's age was 86 years and 12 days at the time of his passing.
Those left to mourn his departure are two sons, three daughters. twenty-four grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.
