Mrs. Ethel York Abernathy died July 20, 2014, at Habersham Home West. Mrs. Abernathy was born August 27, 1923, in White County, Georgia, and she was a lifetime member of Union Baptist Church in White County.
In addition to her parents, Amos William York and Mattie York, Ethel is preceded in death by her husband, Harry Miles “H.M.” Abernathy.
Survivors include her son, Allen (Gertrude) Abernathy, Clarkesville, Georgia; granddaughters, Angela Abernathy (David) Savage, and Beth Abernathy (Charles) Giaquinta, all of Clarkesville, Georgia; great-grandson, Christopher (Cari) Savage, Cartersville, Georgia; and great-granddaughter, Tiffany Savage, Clarkesville, Georgia.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, July 24, 2014, from the Hillside Memorial Chapel. Reverends Dave Fortner and Jerry Vandiver officiated with interment at Union Baptist Church Cemetery.
