Hale S. Agler, 83, of Route 1, Eldorado, died Monday afternoon at the Brethren Home in Greenville where he had been a resident the past three and one-half years.

He was a native of Monroe Township, and was the son of Charles and Clara Shelley Agler. He was a retired Monroe Township farmer, a member of the Eldorado Universalist Church, a life member of the Priddy-Walters Post 665 American Legion at West Manchester, a member of the Farm Bureau and a veteran of World War I. Mr. Agler was a musician, having played French horn in the Treaty City Band and other Preble County bands.

His first wife, Esther (Trick) Agler, died in 1958.

Survivors include his widow, Geraldine (Eley) Agler, also a resident of the Brethren Home; two sons, Jean Agler and Lowell Agler, both of Eldorado; two daughters, Mrs. June Brooks of Lewisburg and Mrs. Patricia Fortell of Chillicothe; one sister, Mrs. Florence Getting of New Madison; 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mr. Agler will be Thursday at the convenience of the family with the Rev. Raymond A. Michel and the Rev. Michael Druck officiating. Burial will be in the Monroe Cemetery with graveside military services provided by American Legion Post 665.
