Private services for Dr. Emil M. Welty, 98, E537 Rockwood, are planned tomorrow morning at Hazen & Jaeger's with the Rev. Dr. William R. Lindsay of First United Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood.

Born in Ohio, Dr. Welty, a 60-year Spokane resident, died yesterday at his home. He had been in failing health the past five years.

Dr. Welty, who was a general practitioner and surgeon, was the father of a Spokane surgeon, Dr. Robert F. Welty, and the father-in-law of a Spokane internist, Dr. Elizabeth M. Welty. The senior Dr. Welty had his medical studies in Philadelphia at the graduate school of the University of Pennsylvania.

He was a member of First United Presbyterian Church. He also belonged to the Spokane County Medical Society, the Washington State Medical Society and the Spokane Surgial Society.

Surviving in addition to his son and daughter-in-law are two daughters, Mrs. D. Graeme (Isabelle) Keith, San Francisco, and Mrs. Robert (Catherine) Buckinger, Seattle; five grandchildren; and two brothers, Jacob Welty, Phoenix, Ariz., and Albert Welty, Evanston, Ill..
