ALEXANDRIA — Leonard W. Ashbaugh, 68, of Alexandria, passed away on March 8, 2015, at his residence after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born on Jan. 26, 1947, in Anderson, and resided most of his life in Alexandria.

Leonard graduated from Anderson High School and from Ivy Tech.

He retired in 1999 from Delco Remy Division of General Motors after 33 years of service.

He was a member of UAW 662 and Narcotics Anonymous. Leonard was affectionately known as Papaw, and found his happiness in helping others. He was a friend to all, and was much beloved in his community.

Leonard is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Ashbaugh; children, Wes (Catalina) Masters, Nick Masters, Julie (Darryl) McIntosh, and Mykala Ashbaugh; grandchildren, Angel Blanch, Nathanael (Josie) Masters, and Caina (James) Thompson; several great-grandchildren; siblings, Mary Finley and David (Rae) Ashbaugh; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Virginia Ashbaugh; and his sisters, Carla Himes, and Marta Walker.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at Robert D. Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory’s Community Room, Anderson.

A Celebration of Life will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Community Room with the Rev. Linda Richey officiating. Cremation will take place.
