Willis served as a Technical Sergeant & Radio Operator on B-24H "Liberty Belle" #42-51134, 784th Bomber Squadron, 466th Bomber Group, Heavy, U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II.

He resided in Davidson County, Tennessee prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on December 7, 1942 at Camp Forrest, Tennessee. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Draftsmen and also as Single, without dependents.

B-24H #42-51134, shortly after takeoff, was caught up in "prop wash" and involved in a Mid-Air collision. They crashed near Horsham, England.

Willis was "Killed In Action" during the war.

He was awarded the Air Medal and the Purple Heart.
