Jan M. Aichele Sr., 78 of Valley Springs, SD, passed away suddenly on Saturday, October 04, 2014, at Avera McKennan Hospital.
Jan M. Aichele Sr., son of Jake and Virginia (Harrum) Aichele, was born on April 21, 1936, in McClusky, ND. He graduated from Mercer High School in Mercer, ND, in 1955. He attended Augustana College for 2 years and then National College of Business where he received his Bachelor's Degree.
Jan was united in marriage with Sandra Dump on August 15, 1957, in Luverne, MN. Jan enlisted with the United States Army in 1958 until being honorably discharged in 1960. He returned to Sioux Falls and continued his career at John Morrell until retiring in 1999, after over 30 years of faithful service.
Jan was secretary of the Sioux Falls Trade and Labor and was Trustee for Local 304 with John Morrell. He enjoyed spending time at casinos and will be missed at the Grand Falls Casino, where he had made many friends. He was always happy and loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and his Italian Greyhound Hunter.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife Sandra Aichele, Valley Springs, SD; daughters Marilyn Weaver and her husband Richard, Dulzura, CA, Emma Haight and her husband Rob, Brandon, SD, Ursula O'Donnell, Abilene, KS, Vivian DeWit, Larchwood, IA, Amy Sherman and her husband Jim, Brandon, SD; son Charles Aichele and his wife Maia, Monument, CO; a half-sister Virginia Ann Ford, CA; 15 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
Jan was preceded in death by his parents, a son Jan Jr., and a daughter Sarah Dykstra.
Burial will be Tuesday, October 07, 2014 at the Brandon Cemetery.
