DEATH TAKES MRS. ELVA LEWIS
Passed Away Saturday at Home of Daughter in Onaga.
Mrs. Elva Lewis, seventy-one years of age, passed away at 5:55 Saturday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Wm. Willis and Mr. Willis in Onaga. She had a stroke last February, and others following and for two months had taken but little nourishment.

Elva Ophelia Lope Lewis was born in Westville, Indiana, December 11th, 1869. She came to Kansas and directly to Seneca in 1883. She was married to Augustus Lewis February 3rd, 1887. Two children were born to this union. Florence C. Willis, Onaga, and Byron B. who died on his second birthday. Mr. Lewis died on July 25th, 1930. Since that time, Mrs. Lewis had continued to live in her own home on Roanoke street and with her daughter, Mrs. Willis.

The little house near the Fair grounds was always neatly kept, one of the prettiest of Seneca's homes with flowers growing in abundance. The family operated a laundry for many years, well-patronized because of the best type of workmanship. Mrs. Lewis had been a member of the Methodist church in Seneca for several years. Her loss is felt keenly in the Loyal Esther Sunday School class, a group of women whose untiring energy has been of great benefit to the Seneca church.

Accompanying Mr. and Mrs. Willis from Onaga Sunday were Mrs. Roland Bonjour, Mrs. Ethel Hall, Mrs. Albert Taylor, Onaga friends. Mrs. George Hailey, Topeka came later in the day. Mrs. Lewis lay in state at the Lauer Funeral Home until 2:30 today when she was taken to her late home there to lie in state until 2:30 Tuesday afternoon. The service will be at the Methodist church with Rev. Alex Eckert conducting. The burial will be in the Seneca cemetery. The pallbearers will be Rex Nutter, Joe Strathman, B. B. Zimmerman, Der. J. C. Grindle, George Neville and Amos Smith.
