Born August 11, 1916, in Cobden, the daughter of Henry and Bernice (Brown) DuBois.
She graduated from Carterville Community High School in 1933. Helen worked 28 years as a book buyer for three department stores, D.J. Stewart & Company, Chas. V. Weise Company and Book World, prior to her retirement in 1980. Member of Temple Baptist Church.
Survived by her sons, Tom (Judy) Cox and Ron (Rose) Cox, both of Rockford; daughter, Carole Bennett of New Lisbon, Wisconsin; grandchildren, Cheryl (Rich Deisinger) Kolk and Clifford (Rose) Bennett, both of New Lisbon, Sara McGee of Rockford and Debbie Cox of Daytona Beach, Florida; great-grandchildren, Kelly (Josh Skaaland) Kolk, Danny and Meghan McGee and Matthew Bennett; and nephew, Michael Hudson of Herrin; special friends, Inga Campbell and Andrea Glenn.
Predeceased by parents; sister, Elizabeth Hudson; son-in-law, Cliff Bennett; and special friend, Al Oliver.
