Mrs. Buza was born on March 4, 1916, daughter of Bernard and Louise Schmidt of rural Mishicot. She graduated from Manitowoc Lincoln High School in 1933 and was employed as a cook at Militzer's Bakery in Milwaukee during the 1930s. On Sept. 4, 1940, she married Theodore A. Buza of Milwaukee, a lifelong tool and diemaker. They moved to Manitowoc Rapids in 1955, where she enjoyed homemaking and flower gardening. Following Mr. Buza's death in 1983, Mrs. Buza moved to downtown Manitowoc. She was a member of Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law: Carolyn (Michael) Walkup, Crystal Lake, Ill.; her granddaughter: Erica Walkup, Chicago, IL. Nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by two sisters: Edna Sievert and Florence Trousil.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 23, 2010, at Bethany Ev. Lutheran Church, 3209 Meadow Lane, Manitowoc. The Rev. Robert Kujawski will officiate with entombment to follow at Knollwood Chapel Mausoleum, 1500 State Hwy 310, Manitowoc. Relatives and friends may call at church on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or to Bethany Lutheran Church. The Jens Family Funeral Home of Manitowoc and the Kisselburg-Wauconda Funeral Home assisted with funeral arrangements.
