"Daniel Eugene Lucas Called"
Daniel E Lucas, 60, well known Moliner who has resided here for almost a quarter of a century, died at his home 2974 Eleventh Avenue, Moline, at 5;45 yesterday afternoon following a stroke which he had suffered earlier in the day. Clarence Lucas, manager of Moline advertising Dispatch, is his only son. Upon the advice of a physician, Mr Lucas had been confined to his home for three weeks.
Mr Lucas was born in Noble County, Indiana, on August 22, 1866. He moved to Olney, Ill., with his parents when he was a child and he received his education in the public schools there. The family later moved to Virginia, Cass County, Ill., where Mr Lucas married Miss Anna Muriel Thompson on May 4 1896. Mr Lucas was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. and Mrs. Lucas came to Moline to make their home 24 years ago. He was at one time associated with the Dewend and Kushman furniture store which was formerly located on Third avenue and Seventh street later becoming manager of the furniture department of the New York store. He was one of the first motormen on the East Moline interurban line. For the last 12 years he had been tool clerk of the Velie Motors corporation..
Mr. Lucas was a Baptist by faith. He held membership in the Modern Woodmen of America and in the Court of Honor.
Surviving him besides the widow and one son, Clarence,, are 4 brothers, Frank and Arthur Lucas of Los Angeles, Cal., and Grant and Marshall Lucas of Caldwell, Kas.
Funeral services will be held at 2;30 Monday afternoon in Esterdahl chapel. The Rev. Walter A Tillberg, pastor of Trinity Lutheran church will officiate. Interment will be in Riverside mausoleum---Moline, Ill., Daily Dispatch of Nov. 20th.
