New Iberia- Amy Lucille Benson Cross, 90 years old, passed away Saturday, June 7, 2014, at Maison Teche Nursing Home in Jeanerette, Louisiana.

She was born August 31, 1923, in Lovington, New Mexico. Mrs. Cross volunteered as a Pink Lady at North Oaks Medical Center in Hammond for over 17 years.

Surviving are her daughter, Cindy Cross Hayes and husband, Alan; son, James Edward Cross, Jr.; 3 grandchildren, Seth Bartus Hayes, M.D. and wife, Sunni Mercer Hayes, Amy Cross Hayes, and Lindsey Kay Hill; 2 great-grandchildren, Lucas Mercer Hayes and Sophie Kathryn Hayes; and her best friend & beloved pet, Dixie.

She is preceded in death by her son, Doy Leon Cross; sister, Louise Brock; and parents, Jesse and Dessie Bales Benson.

The family would like to thank Maison Teche Nursing Home for their tender and loving care. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made in Mrs. Cross's name to the Westchurch Church of Christ, 1202 West Church Street, Hammond, Louisiana 70401

Friends will be received Tuesday, June 10, 2013, at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond, from 8:30am until funeral services begin at 10:00am in the funeral home chapel.

Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens, Hammond, Louisiana.
