Gladys Marjory Thorn was born on Sept. 9, 1920 in Chicago, IL. She passed away on February 28, 2015, at the age of 94 in Chico. She and her five sisters were raised in Napa, and Stockton CA. She married her first husband, Peter Thill, and they moved to Portola CA. They had two children, Linda Thill Brooks, and Pete Thill Jr. She was a homemaker while raising their children, but later was employed as a secretary for the late Assembly Women, Pauline Davis. After being widowed, she married Robert Thorn in June of 1985, and moved to Chico. Her hobbies included cooking, fishing, sewing, gardening and golf. She loved to travel, and she and her husband took many wonderful trips. They had a summer home in Graeagle, CA, where they enjoyed entertaining family members. Gladys was an encourager, who always had a kind word to say to family and friends. She was a Christian, and was a member of the Aldersgate Methodist Church. She loved to host dinners at their home, and her motto was "There is always room for one more at the dinner table". She is survived by her Sister Jackie (Henry) Berg, Daughter Linda Brooks, Grandsons, Ron, Michael, David, Steven & Gary Brooks, Daughter In Law, Ann Thill, granddaughter Jody (Clint) Howell, Great Granddaughter Brooklyn Howell, Step-Daughter Marie (Robert) Fickert, Step Granddaughter Allison (Curt) Haselton, Step Grandchildren, Elias, Bella, Josiah, Lilly Kate Haselton, Step Grandson Keith (Alisha) Fickert, Step Great Granddaughter Leilani Fickert, Neices Artis (Rich) Brandt, Charlene Finlay, Great Nieces Megan Headley, Keshia Shabazz, Nephew Tom (Marta) Finlay, Great Nieces JeAnna Weisend and Kristen Cagigao. She was preceded in death by her first husband Pete Thill SR, son Pete Thill JR., second husband Robert Thorn, and sisters Helen Thorn, Ruth Finlay and June Morrison. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, March 14th, at the Newton-Bracewell Chico Funeral Home.
