WILLIAM G. COPELAND was born February, 1833, and fell on sleep December, 1893. Just fifty-eight years ago our sweet mother was crossing the shadow of death, and whispered back to my oldest sister: "I will soon be in heaven; I hear angels singing, and I go happy, for God will soon bring my husband and all my children home to me." One by one they have been gathering on the golden shore, and last night the humble, the pure, the good, upright William G. went over on the lifeboat. He was the last of the family to leave me. None were more generous, noble, and upright than he. He was a lover of children - had none of his own, but adopted all of those of his kindred and neighbors. All loved him and felt sheltered in his loving heart. No man in his humble sphere had more friends and fewer enemies than he. His wife will miss him till she meets him "over there." How strange is the way of God in taking before me mother, father, six sisters, and two brothers, leaving me alone of our large family. Like Paul, I feel for me to live is Christ, but to die is gain. Gladly will I answer the next roll call, "Here I am, take me!" Hallelujah, heaven is holding more of my family and loved than earth. I shall be soon with my kindred and the angels.
