Martha Ann Sorrell, 70, of Amarillo died Wednesday, March 11, 2015.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Martha was born April 19, 1944, in Dimmitt to Roy and Odella Blackwell. She attended Claude High School, where she met her future husband, Phillip Eugene Sorrell. She married Phil, her high school sweetheart, the summer after they graduated high school in 1962. During the early years of their marriage, Phil attended college while she worked full time to support their young family. During the next several years, as Phil’s career advanced, she devoted her life to raising their daughters. She was a testament to the saying, “Behind every successful man, there is a great woman.”

Beginning in 1980, they worked together in building Sorrell Computer Systems which led to the establishment of Bancorp Systems, Inc. in 1983. Bancorp developed and marketed a trust accounting system for community banks, not-for-profit organizations and international financial institutions. The company sold in 1996 with more than 400 U.S. and international installations. Martha was a significant contributor to the company’s success by acting as the office manager and driving the vision for Bancorp’s marketing efforts. After retirement, Martha enjoyed her travels with Phil, doting on her grandsons and gardening.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Phil, and her three older sisters, Doris Bailey, Dorothy Blackwell and Lilly Blackwell.

Survivors include her two daughters, Sheri Sorrell of Amarillo and Sandi Morrison of Flower Mound; three grandsons, Allan Morrison and his wife Cassie of Dallas and Alex Morrison and Zac Morrison, both of Flower Mound.

The family is grateful for the loving care Martha received from the staff at Harrington Cancer Center and Hospice Care of the Southwest.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
