Dies at Sister's Home /
Popular Woman Had Been a Resident of Atlanta for Twelve Years.
Mrs. Martha E. Kirkpatrick, one of the best loved women of Atlanta, died at the residence of her sister, Mrs. C. S. Evans, 56 West Peachtree Place, Monday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock. She had been ill only a week.
Mrs. Kirkpatrick had been a resident of Atlanta for twelve years, coming here form Nashville, Tenn. She was a devoted member of the Methodist church. She is survived by her daughter, Miss Nina Kirkpatrick; a son, H. M. Laird; one sister, Mrs. C. S. Evans, and one brother, C. W. Conger.
The funeral will be held at the residence, 56 West Peachtree Place, this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Interment will be in Oakland cemetery. The pallbearers will be M. J. C. Wrenne, of Nashville, Tenn., J. L. McCollum, J. A. Baldwin, Wheeler Wangum, J. B. Osborne and John McCord, of Atlanta.
---------
Maiden name Williams from DC for her son HM Laird. Conger was her married name, but given her youth I expect that Sarah A Conger and Charles H Conger who appear with her in the 1860 census at ages 11 and 8 would be step-children of a deceased father.
