BISSELL-LOWELL WEDDING VOWS ARE TAKEN
Miss Dorothy Marie Bissell became the bride of John Lowell on Monday, Jan. 1, 1951 at 2 p.m. The ceremony took place at St. Mary's Church in Guttenberg. Rev. Gruenwald read the double ring service.
The church organist played the nuptial music and accompanied the choir which sang "Ave Maria."
Miss Bissell is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Bissell, Elkader, and the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Lowell of Guttenberg.
Miss Hulda Bissell, of Elkader, sister of the bride, was maid of honor.
The bridesmaids were Miss Irene Wesemann of Guttenberg and Mrs. Lloyd Bente of Elkader, cousin and sister of the bride.
Carol Bente served as flower girl. Keith Polkow was ring bearer.
Wayne Lowell served his brother, as best man. Other attendants were Robert Lowell and Royce Bissell, brothers of the bridal couple.
Mrs. Lowell is a graduate of the Elkader public school and attended Upper Iowa University at Fayette. For the past three years she has been teaching in the rural schools of Clayton County. Mr. Lowell graduated from St. Mary's High School and has since been employed by the Iowa Food Corporation.
