D.C. Baxter, A WWII Veteran and retired truck driver peacefully answered the whisper of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and started his journey home Friday, February 13, 2015. He was preceded in death by his wife Polly Mae Campbell Baxter and their son Floyd Mitchell. “Bluedaddy as he was affectionately known by his grandchildren, brought joy and laughter to all who knew him. He was a gentle giant who would quietly lend a hand and didn’t mind giving his fellowman a ride. We knew him for his love for cars, wrestling and major league baseball. He leaves to mourn his passing two daughters, Margaret (Lewis) Blakney and Louise Watkins, one son, Billy (Barbara) Baxter all of Memphis, TN; three brothers-in-law, Clarence Campbell, Louis Campbell of Lima, Ohio, and Robert Louis Campbell. One sister-in-law, Mattie Mae Campbell of Memphis, TN. Also mourning his passing are 12 grandchildren, Kenneth Mitchell, Jacquelyn Peterson, Darlene Blakney, Ronald (Emma) Mitchell, Donald (Diane) Mitchell, Marlene (Terry) Webber, Stephanie Jordan, Shundra Bracy, Katrena (Vinton) Parnell, David (Samantha) Baxter, Dawunacae (Michael) Williams, 21 great-grand children, 5 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Funeral Services and visitation will be Friday, 20 February 2015 at M. J. Edwards Funeral Home, 1165 Airways Blvd, Memphis TN - Visitation from 9 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Funeral at 11 a.m. 901-327-9360
