Edward was originally entombed at Fairview Mausoleum. When Fairview Mausoleum was demolished in 1997, he was moved here, to Graceland Cemetery.

FORMER RESIDENT DIES

Edward M. McMahon, 47, formerly of Manitowoc, nationally known in the insurance business died Saturday, following an operation at the Mount Vernon hospital, New York City. Mr. McMahon was the brother of Dr. J.P. McMahon, Dr. Francis B. McMahon and Atty. Omar T. McMahon of Milwaukee. Besides the three brothers who reside in Milwaukee, he is survived by his wife, two children, Jane, 15 and Edward, 10 and two other brothers, Stephen J., Washington D.C., formerly of Milwaukee, a member of the United States board of Tax Appeals and Raymond, who lives in Kansas City. Mr. McMahon was second vice president and in charge of the life insurance trust department of the Chase National Bank, New York City, a position which he assumed when the Equitable Trust Company, bank of New York was absorbed by the Chase National Bank. Mr. McMahon became affiliated with the Equitable Trust department in 1935 when he organized its insurance trust department, the first department of its kind in any bank in the United States.

Mr. McMahon was born March 6, 1884 in the Town of Meeme, this county, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Patrick J. McMahon. His father, who died in 1931, was for six years Clerk of Court of Manitowoc county form Jan. 1, 1899 to Jan. 1, 1906. Edward McMahon graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 1908.

In 1909 Mr. McMahon entered the insurance business with the Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Co. In 1910 he was appointed a general agent of the company, the youngest man up to that time to hold such a post. In 1912 he became associated with Dr. Charles Albright in the insurance business operating in New York City, Cleveland, Chicago and Milwaukee. From 1913 to 1916 he was a resident regent of the University of Wisconsin and during those same years he became interested in managerial work in connection with the Chamber of Commerce at Madison, later taking up the same work with the St. Paul (Minn.) Chamber of Commerce. In 1921 Mr. McMahon organized the Northwestern Casualty and Surety Co. of Milwaukee, remaining with it until 1923 as vice president and manager of agencies. He then became connected with the National Life Insurance Co. of Montpelier, VT where he remained until assuming his position with Equitable Trust Co. Bank.

The remains of Mr. McMahon were brought to Milwaukee for burial. The funeral was held Wednesday morning form St. John Cathedral. Mrs. P.A. Miller of this city attended the funeral.
