He was born on April 22, 1932 in Oneida, N.Y., a son of the late Edward T. and Carrie (Butler) Allen and was a graduate of Oneida High School.
After high school Pounce enlisted with the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged in 1953.
On Aug. 15, 1953 Edward and Angela Ferrara were united in marriage in St. Patrick's Church of Oneida and shared a loving union of over 52 years together until Angela's death on Jan. 26, 2006.
Prior to his retirement Pounce worked for 33 years at Griffiss Air Force Base in Rome, N.Y.
In his spare time he enjoyed golfing, walking, anything Notre Dame and especially Notre Dame football.
His memberships included the Durhamville Vets Club and the American Legion Post 230 of Sherrill where he was a member for 40 years and served as a past commander from 1972-1973.
First and foremost he was a loving Dad and proud grandfather.
Surviving are two sons and two daughters-in-law, Michael (Joan) Allen of Nantucket, Mass. and Mark (Kelly) Allen of North Attleboro, Mass.; one daughter and son-in-law, Christine (William) Peer of Huntington, Long Island; six grandchildren, Samantha and Nicholas Allen, Kari Anne and Brian Peer, Michael and Matthew Allen and one brother, Charles ""Chuck"" Allen of Oneida, as well as several other relatives.
Family and friends are invited to call on Friday, March 13, 2015 from 2-5 p.m. at the Malecki Funeral Home Inc., 464 Sherrill Road, Sherrill. Mr. Allen's funeral service will be held at 5 p.m. at the funeral home immediately following calling hours. Burial will be private.
