Earnestine Raiter was born in Alexandria July 14, 1879, and spent all of her life here. She attended the local schools and was married to Dr. C. L. Cole at Alexandria on January 1, 1906. To this union one daughter, Janet (Mrs. Paul McGee) was born.
Mrs. Cole was active in church and club life in this city. She was a lifelong and active member of the Congregational church and a past president of the Dental Auxiliary, the Euterpean club and the Douglas County Federation of Women's clubs. She was a past Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star and a member of the PEO and the UCT Auxiliary. All of these orders attended the funeral services in a body.
Besides the bereaved husband and daughter, Mrs. Cole is survived by two sisters: Mrs. Emma R. Wright and Mrs. Leon Boyd, both of Alexandria and three brothers, Fred C. Raiter of Minneapolis, Frank E. Raiter of St. Paul and Chrissie F. Raiter of Van Nuys, California. There is one grandchild, Thomas McGee.
Funeral services were held on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock at the Congregational church, Rev. A. A. Secord officiating. Burial was in Kinkead cemetery. The pallbearers were Fred C. Oppel, Earl Best, Julian Fitzgerald, Cleve Kolstad, Merlin Unumb, Dr. P. E. Kierland.
