SOMERSET, MA – Enid L. (Manchester) Slade, 98, of Somerset passed away Monday, December 13, 2010, at Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River. Born in Fall River, the daughter of the late William and Alice (Canfield) Manchester, she was the wife of the late Winton C. Slade.

Mrs. Slade worked at the former Truesdale Hospital in Fall River for ten years in the housekeeping department, retiring in 1980. Enid was a member of the Congregational Christian Church in Somerset and involved at one time with the Ladies Aide of the church. Mrs. Slade was a member of the Somerset Senior Club, the Village Senior Club, AARP, American Legion Post #228 Auxiliary and the Charlton Memorial Hospital Retirees.

Enid was known for her cooking, especially her fudge, cookies and cheesecake. She also traveled after her retirement.

She is survived by a niece, Elizabeth Gillette of Raynham, MA; two great-nieces, Donna Young and Diane Rusiecki, both of Raynham, MA; a great-nephew, Edward L. Rusiecki of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; a great-great- nephew, Matthew R. Young of Raynham; and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Doris Haskins, Kenneth, Earle, Wesley and Stewart Manchester.

Her funeral service will be held in the HATHAWAY COMMUNITY HOME for FUNERALS, 900 Buffinton St., Somerset, with burial to follow in Nathan Slade Cemetery, Somerset.
