McClung Genealogy states Henry was b. 1844. Civil War military records indicate he enlisted in the Confederate Army on May 11, 1861 at age 21. Had his cap shot off his head, but he escaped unhurt. He is a practicing physician. In politics a Republican. In religion a Baptist."

Dr W H H McClung, of Winona, Fayette county, was found dead a short distance from this home on the 20th ult.
On the day mentioned above he started horseback for the store of Wm Crick, about one mile distant. In the afternoon his horse was found hitched securely to a bush near the roadside, and after a search his lifeless body was found in the woods about one-half mile from his horse.
His body was in a reclining position, with his head resting on his carefully folded coat as a pillow. There were no indications of suffering or violence, and it is the opinion of physicians that death resulted from heart failure.
Dr McClung was sixty-three years of age, and had been a successful physician for about forty years. He was drum major in Company K and twenty-seventh regiment of the Confederate army. He was a member of the Baptist church for more than forty years. The funeral services were conducted by Rev Wm Adams, of Corliss, and his remains were buried at the cemetery at Hurricane Ridge, Greenbrier county. He is survived by a wife, six sons and two daughters.
