3RD GENERATION
John Jacob Sr. was buried in what was East Main St. Cem., Quincy, IL. The city decided to make the cemetery a public park. The family did not want him moved when the park was created. There is no marker.

John Jacob Sr. was born in Berks County, Penna. and was buried at Quincy, Illinois, in the East Main Street Cemetery. His wife is buried at Fowler, Illinois. In 1827 John Jacob Sr. married Elizabeth M. Lindenmoyer, who was born in Wuertemberg, Germany in 1810,
During the summer of 1837, he with his family; his brother Charles Henry, who was single, his brother Samuel's family and his cousin Benjamin Weidenhammer and family, (the son of John Adam Weidenhammer) emigrated to OH.
John Jacob and his family continued their journey further west and settled at Quincy, Adams Co., Illinois. Where he purchased what was then known as the Nat Sommer's farm. Here he lived and prospered until his death which as stated above, occurred in 1842 at the early age of thirty three years. He was buried in the East Main Street Cemetery in Quincy. This cemetery was later turned into a public park. It is known that some graves were moved but none of the old records exist today. Some say his body was moved to Fowler Cemetery, Fowler, Illinois and is buried next to his wife.
Jacob had many health problems through out his life. Jacob had cholera at the age of thirty. After the death of her husband his widow lived with their son John Jacob Jr. at Galesburg, Illinois, until her death.
