HEARD, THELMA MAYE
(29 Sep 1927, Beckham County Democrat, Erick, Beckham Co, OK):
Mrs. Thelma Maye Cornelison Heard was born at Erick, Oklahoma, December 13th, 1907. She was converted and joined the Baptist Church in 1923, where she has been a member since her conversion.
Mrs. Heard has been in ill health for several years, and with her mother sought recovery in the arid climate of Arizona. Having partially recovered she returned to Erick where she was united in marriage to a life long friend, Mr. Marvin Heard, December 26th, 1926. About five months after her marriage she was accompanied again by her mother and husband to Phoenix, Arizona, in search for her health. But on September 11th, 1927 to Angel of Death visited her at Phoenix, and carried her soul again to God who gave it. Her earthly remains were laid to rest in the Erick Cemetery Thursday, September 15, 1927. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. A. R. Hutchinson, pastor of the Erick Methodist Church. His text was among the last words of Jesus: "Ye believe in God, believe also in me" - John 14:1.
She was a faithful and cheerful wife and daughter. Her hope was always bright and cheerful. She had no fear of death, but was anxious ready and willing to meet her Christ in that home not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.
She leaves a husband, father and mother, one brother and two sisters in her immediate family and a host of other relatives and friends. May the God of Hope, Peace and Love comfort the sad hearts of those who mourn the going of this choice Spirit of God.
