And … she is out of here! Just the way she wanted to go. Elaine I. (Jonas) Chaloupka found peace on the early morning of February 9, 2024 after a great day surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Minnesota but grew up in Wisconsin to Frederick W. and Marie Meta Alvina (Blum) Jonas. She was a Vikings fan, but mostly to irritate Packer fans. Mishicot High School was her alma mater.

On May 16, 1959, she married William (Bud) Chaloupka in Mishicot. The couple owned and operated Fischerville Tavern for many years. They raced stock cars at 141 Speedway. She ran a successful Rag Rug weaving business until her husband's Alzheimer's prevented them from continuing.

She adored her two children, eight grandchildren, and a great-granddaughter. She got a kick out of laughing with them, teasing them, and spoiling them. She was generous and gave everything she could to those in need whether she knew them or not. We will miss her random knowledge about everything, but nothing in particular. Her stubbornness and her will to be better than any boy. Her ability to be strong despite the hardships that came her way.

She is survived by her son, James (Julie), and her daughter, Ellen; her grandchildren Peter (Allison), Beccky (Stephen), and Matthew; and her great-granddaughter, Amelia. Also surviving are sisters-in-law: Johanna, Barbara, Bonnie and Joye.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bud; grandchildren, Michael and Scott and the recent death of her granddaughter, Jennifer, whose death took a toll on her already broken heart.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 24, 2024 at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 325 Randolph Street, Mishicot. Rev. Joel Stuebs will officiate at the memorial service. Burial will be held at a later date.

The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Saturday morning from 9:00 until 11:00 a.m.
