Billie Steve Blythe, 68, of Pittsburg, passed away at 11:33 p.m. Monday, March 16, 2015 at Via Christi Village. He was born September 10, 1946 at Cassville, Missouri, the son of Emmett and Ruth L. (Mullins) Blythe. He attended local schools and graduated from College High and later graduated from Pittsburg State University in 1966 with a degree in Cabinet and Furniture design. On October 4, 1977, he was united in marriage to Lilia Franklin at Tulsa, Oklahoma. Mr. Blythe worked at the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant in Parsons from 1968 until 2010 when he retired. He worked in many different stations while there including truck driver, carpenter and as a foreman. Membership was held in the Elks Lodge #527 of Parsons, Kansas. In addition to his wife, Lilia Blythe of the home, he is survived by three children, Shelley Logan and her husband, Lanny of Cherokee, KS, Brian Blythe and his wife, Starla of Pittsburg, and Billie Messinger and her husband, Stacy of Frontenac; seven grandchildren, Ashley Berve, Brody Tickel, Shelby Blythe, Kassidee Blythe, Malaki Messinger, Josh Messinger, and Nathan Messinger; a great-grandchild, Addison Berve; two brothers, David Blythe and his wife, Dee of Cherokee and Jack Blythe and his wife, Lisa of Arma, KS; and a sister, Carolyn Hartman and her husband, Jim of Tulsa, OK. He was preceded in death by his parents, and Robert Creekkiller, who was like a brother. Memorial Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday (March 23) at the Lamplighter Inn with Rev. Daryl Gaddy officiating. Private family inurnment will follow in the Crocker Cemetery. The family suggests memorials to the Billie Blythe Memorial Fund. These may be left at the services or mailed to the Brenner Mortuary, 114 East 4th St., Pittsburg, KS 66762.Friends may leave condolences online at www.brennermortuary.com.
