David C. Buskey, a retired city firefighter whose love of his profession led him to found organizations to preserve firefighting history, died Thursday in Hershey Medical Center. He was 58.

Buskey, of 7210 Chambers Hill Road, Swatara Twp., joined the Harrisburg Fire Department in 1969. He retired in 1993.

In 1976, he was one of the founders of the Pennsylvania Pump Primers, an organization of people who own or love antique fire apparatus. He also was a past president.

For the past 25 years, he chaired its annual muster, a gathering of antique firefighting apparatus along the Susquehanna River and in Riverfront Park.

He was one of the founders of the Fire Museum of Greater Harrisburg in 1993 in the historic Reily Hose Co. firehouse. He became the museum's executive director and oversaw the renovations of the firehouse and the acquisition of hand-drawn, horse-drawn and motorized firefighting pumpers and other equipment.

Buskey was a member of the International Association of Fire Fighters Local 428,
Central Pennsylvania Firefighters Association, Pennsylvania Professional Firefighters Association, the Society for the Preservation and Appreciation of Antique Motor Fire Apparatus in America, Dauphin County Volunteer Firemen's Association, Chambers Hill Lions Club, Hershey Region Antique Automobile Club of America, Harrisburg Historical Society and Central Pennsylvania Fire Buffs Association.

Surviving are his wife, Marsha L. Gutshall Buskey.
