W.J. was a Professional Pharmicist and owned a Drug Store in Texarkana, Texas. One of the first licensed Pharmicist in the State of Texas. Have been told he had License #6. Checked with the Texas State Pharmicist Association but they did not have archives for that period of time.

W.J. was a Mason. He was for a period of time in business with his brother, Harmon Fonville DeFee, who later had his own Drug and Pharmacy.
W. J. was also the City Secretary for the City of Texarkana, Texas, from 28 April 1916 to 16 April 1920.

He and Ruby had two daughters and two sons. One son Robert and his wife Polly are also buried in Hillcrest Cemetery. One of the daughters, Frances McLarty nee DeFee is also buried here along with her husband, Lee McLarty. Ruby is buried beside her husband.

The photo shown is of W.J. DeFee and wife Ruby and their first grandchild, Leo Thomas Sweeney Jr. Photo is from August, 1932.

I used the W.J. as that is what he everyone called him...
I can fondly remember calling him, "Dubba Jay".
